jamesgerry Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Hi everyone, I have just joined today and this is my first post!I have a 2000 'X' TDi auto. The heater fan only works on 3&4 and will not allow the a/c to be selected. When in positions 1&2 the blower does not work but the a/c light illuminates?? Can anyone help? Thanks,James. Quote
chromedome Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Common fault. It will most likely be the resistor pack. Remove the glove box and you will see it fixed to the side of the heater assembly. I think coloured green or red. Quote

Big Stew Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Mine also does this and as the A/C seems to have a large leak somewhere ? I have decided that I can live with speeds 3 and 4 on the fan. Am I right in thinking using it as such can't hurt anything ? Quote

seatkid Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) However, the existing one isnt burnt or cracked and has two separate resistance readings A low resistance between pins 1+4A slightly higher resistance between pins 2+3 hmmm You should also have a lowish resistance reading between 1+2 and also 3+4. (Its 3 resistors connected in a string). One has blown open. Edited December 3, 2009 by seatkid Quote
big_kev Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Is the rear resistor pack the same as the front one ? I know the hedgehogs are identical in the climate control versions ! Quote
iberlynx2 Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 I have just changed the resistor on mine and the blower still does not work. I am desperate as it is sweltering down here in Almeria, any ideas? Quote
